So how would you rate your team due to scrimmage

There was elements of good and bad for Clintwood. Aggressive nature on defense, some decent effort from a few areas. Little problems on holding onto ball and such, I'd give Clintwood a C based on their performance the other night. Definitely should get a better vibe this weekend and see if some of the ones who experienced hitting someone besides their own team improve or stay the same.

I can't wait till the jamboree Friday. I had to work last Friday night and missed the TS SCRIMMAGE. Obviously, we have some work on pass defense, but the word was good on the O-line and D-line, pursuit to the ball so much better this year than last, tough against the run. I'll know a little more come Friday night.

A scrimmage doesn't/can't mean everything, but it can still help show some strengths or weaknesses. Even going against a weak team, you want your players to compete and battle, if they don't, if you someone slacking, then you have an idea that this is a player who may overlook another team later than they are better than.

They don't mean anything. I am just football starved. A body can see a bit from 1st scrimmage to next-still wont show much, but will be able to catch some blocking, tackling...etc

JJK's line (on both sides) did look quite a bit improved from last year. Only thing to me was that it was Twin Springs that JJK was facing, not a true benchmark IMHO. Same goes for Clintwood scrimmaging Thomas Walker, there's no way to get a good read on how well they're coming around watching that matchup. One team ends up looking like a Super Bowl contender and the other looking like a repeat 0-10 team.

I wanted to check out some of the other scrimmages in the area but time didn't permit.

Good luck to all of the LPD teams & respective players, really am looking forward to another season of SWVA football.

I can offer this on scrimmages so far - Grundy vs East Ridge. The Golden Wave appear to have several high quality players who could play for most local teams - including Brown, Lee, and Ashby - but lack of depth will again be a problem for the fans up Slate Creek. I thought the Wave outplayed East Ridge and I predict Grundy will be able to pass the ball more successfully than last year. My third prediction for this young season: Green Wave 24 Golden Wave 12.

Appy.
A lot to work on. But nothing that can't be fixed.
Somethings need to be simplified.
Need to start off quicker on offense. To much at tims, seem like a lot of confusion. Come off the ball better and more crisp. Stay after people.
On offense and defense you could tell who missed summer workouts big time.
On defense need to cover better on passes. Make adjustments faster. Attack the ball carrier and stick better. To much arm tackling.
And a few of the coaches need to simplify what they are saying. Talking over the kids heads at times.

Against Daniel Boone i'd rate it out a low C performance.
To much hesitation at times on both sides of the ball and some just seem lost at times.

Hopefully with Lee High coming up things will be better.

From what I hear this will be the worst GC football team Colobro has ever fielded. They are going to suck mud!
